General information:
Curcuma, the root of which is also called turmeric because of its intense yellow color, is a perennial plant belonging to the ginger family. It has been native to Southeast Asia, Vietnam, South India, and Java for around 5,000 years. The plant, which also has yellow flowers, grows to 1 meter tall and has strong rhizomes. The root is used in cooking as a spice or ingredient, among other things.
